So needless to say, we aren't always updating our blog in chronological order. But last weekend was a big family/friends weekend, so we thought we'd share pictures of that now...
Last Friday night, while in the city for Joe's gallery opening, we visited with my mom and dad at the Arden during intermission. They were seeing "The Piano Lesson" which earned rave reviews and was subsequently extended. We unfortunately didn't get pics of the 4 of us, but here is Benner and I waiting in the lobby for them to come out. We brought them cookies.
We saw them at intermission, and then met up with them again after the show. Here's a synopsis of the show in case you're interested:
"In 1936 Pittsburgh, Boy Willie and his sister Berniece battle over the future of a treasured heirloom: a piano with unique ancestral carvings by their grandfather, an enslaved plantation carpenter. He wants to sell the piano to buy land. She insists that the instrument carries too much history to cast aside. In a home haunted by memories, the issue of whether or not to sell cuts deeply and raises questions about honoring the past or moving into the future."
Then on Saturday we spent the afternoon with my mom again, enjoying the beautiful afternoon and good company. We were roaming around Narberth and ran into Benner's mom too...
That was only the beginning of the Saturday family fest. We stopped by Mike's grandparents for a Benner family gathering to hear about the Schmidt's vacation to Bon Aire. (An island next to Aruba that is Dutch owned.) They rode horses bareback in the ocean!
Then we had dinner with Aunt Marge, Uncle Butch and the clan. Here's a pic of Sherri and Jack, Mike's cousins who are moving to China in August! We'll be visiting, for sure. The flight from LA isn't nearly as rough than from the east coast.
To top off the weekend, lunch with the Hein's on Sunday. Greg licked Benner causing his wife to leave him behind. Greg stood in the street, alone and baffled as to the veracity of his crime.
But all was forgiven. We heart the Heins.
